The Tournament Registration table will be open one hour prior to t-time. Members must check in at the Registration Table, pay or confirm payment for the tournament and secure a MSGA score card. The Registration Table will close 15 MINUTES prior to
t-time.
Members arriving late are to check-in at the Pro Shop claim their score card and ask the golf staff to drive you to your Group. You should also make arrangement to find and pay the treasurer at the tournament or pay immediately after the tournament (see ways to pay on Page 3).
LATE CANCELLATION PENALTY FEE
Once a member is booked for a tournament, and he decides to cancel his booking, he must advise the Tournament Director, Nick Doherty, directly via email (ndo555@shaw.ca) or telephone (204-582-3113). The cancellation must be received 5 calendar days before the date of the tournament to avoid being charged the $30.00 penalty fee. The fee must be paid before playing in
another tournament.
RULES OF PLAY / SPEED OF PLAY
With full or large registrations for each tournament, speed of play becomes very important. PLEASE PLAY READY GOLF, that is, if you are ready to make your shot or putt, do it rather than waiting for another player to do it. When putting do not worry about honors and putting should be continuous unless required to stand in the line of a partners’ putt. Do not look for a lost ball for more than ONE MINUTE and do not spend time retrieving a ball from a water body. There are many ways to speed up play, most of them just common sense. Please be considerate of others behind you.
LIABILITY
Golfers are responsible for any damages they cause to carts and facilities at the various golf courses where tournaments are held. Members are advised to check their assigned carts for any damage prior to t-off.
CUTS FROM TOURNAMENTS
If a tournament gets over-subscribed, cuts are necessary. In these cases, the Tournament Director will make the cuts. Cuts are made on a rotational basis based on records maintained over a period of several years. No member will be cut from more than one tournament per season. New members will not be cut from a tournament in their first season with the MSGA.

HANDICAPS & SCORES
MSGA subscribes to a handicapping software package, and it is used to determine individual handicaps according to scores handed in after each tournament. Since the system requires a minimum of 5 scores to determine a specific handicap, the Scores and Handicap Director will set a handicap for new members after 5 games. New players without handicap compete as part of A Group until their handicap is determined. Once a handicap is determined, members will be eligible to win prizes based on handicap groupings or net scores.
A scorecard given to each player on registration at each tournament will contain the member’s current handicap, grouping and the hole from which they will begin play. This scorecard must be handed in at the end of each tournament to get credit for a game played. There are four handicap groups – A to D – and these levels will be determined by the Scores and Handicap Director.
LARTERS WIND UP TOURNAMENT
There are 144 spots available at Larters Golf Club for our wind-up tournament. The playing spots will be awarded to the Board Directors, the Group Coordinators and then to members that play the most games during the season. Prizes will be available for all eighteen holes.
